New York Times reporters Eric Lichtbaum and Maek Mazzetti report in the January 14, 2007 issue, about the expanding role of the U. S. military in domestic espionage, and deletions in a U.S. Army Manual that may indicate the executive branch is once again wiretapping without a warrant.
The Pentagon has been using a little-known power to obtain banking and credit records of hundreds of Americans and others suspected of terrorism or espionage inside the U.S.

Dave Winer's NYT link generator creates links into NYT rss for free. If you're reading the NYT and want to blog a story, simply click on the bookmarklet and it generates a link available without registration that you can copy/paste into your blog post.

Another handy little tool is BugMeNot which allows a user to quickly bypass the login of web sites that require compulsory registration and/or the collection of personal/demographic information (such as the New York Times). BugMeNot has a bookmarklet as well.
